Aerospace Museum of California

SERVICES: Website Redesign. Branding. Identity. Content & Marketing Strategy. eCommerce Website.

THE CLIENT

The Aerospace Museum of California showcases the greatest of aviation’s past, present, and future. Located on the former grounds of McClellan Air Force Base in the heart of California's state capitol, the museum features over 40 vintage aircrafts and an extensive engine collection. The museum also displays an aerospace collection which includes rocket engines as well as astronaut and space travel artifacts. Notably, the Flight Zone is a very popular attraction which includes six state-of-the-art flight simulators with personalized lessons from experienced flight instructors.

THE PROJECT

The main website as well as email newsletters are part of the Aerospace Museum of California's marketing and engagement efforts. This project was not just a website redesign, but a re-branding, creation of a new identity and additionally a new e-commerce website. All of the above was packaged with a solid strategy to help this non-profit museum streamline their operational costs and reach their audience more effectively. The client's biggest challenges included not being able to get their message across in the way they wanted to, not being in control of updating content on their own website, and an inability to display their events effectively.

THE GOALS

Their goals with this redesign were to increase sales and to have their new website reflect their presence as a world-class destination. They wanted the magnitude and scale of their current exhibits and events as a Smithsonian affiliate to be accurately portrayed with this redesign. It was equally important that website visitors understand their mission as an educative, learning space. The museum also desired to use their website as an educational portal — intended to help inspire young generations to be interested in the future, as well as STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) careers.
